The Homecoming Revolution is a great opportunity to speak to South Africans looking homewards. What would your company like to achieve through this event? Foschinidata is keen to connect with IT professionals to chat about the career opportunities that exist within our company and The Foschini Group. We would also like to share some insights into our company culture and our commitment to the growth and development of our people.
What is the one thing you can offer homecomers more effectively than others? Not only are the ICT solutions that Foschinidata provides world class, due to our use of a combination of fully integrated 3rd party solutions and in-house developed software, but Foschinidata is also a great place to work with regular social activities for staff to engage in, such as annual action cricket tournaments, golf days, pool tournaments, family days and fun year-end functions.
What practical advantages does your company offer to make our readers’ lives easier?
Very competitive salary packages are offered to successful applicants and we are able to offer rewarding careers, across the spectrum of ICT functions, whilst living in the metropolis of trendy Cape Town.
How do you see the financial landscape developing over the next 12 months?
Although current trading conditions worldwide are still tough, the Foschini Group are optimistic that consumer confidence will improve over the next 12 months and that there will be a recovery in the economy and consumer spending. For this reason, the Foschini Group continues to invest in new ICT technologies and solutions, with a vision of being world class retailers.
The World Cup is on everyone’s mind this year. Are you looking forward to it as a company?
As a company we are excited about 2010. We believe it gives South Africa a chance to showcase its wonderful and diverse cultures, tourism, investment opportunities, the city life and the beautiful surrounds. Here in Cape Town we are all so very proud of the new Green Point Stadium – it is truly magnificent and is spectacular in design. Our Total Sports Division is ready with sports products to clothe the soccer supporters for 2010.
African Health Placements (AHP)

The Homecoming Revolution is a great opportunity to speak to South Africans looking homewards. What would your company like to achieve through this event?
Africa Health Placements staffs public sector and NGO health facilities in South Africa. Working against the tide of the many agencies taking health workers out of the country, we have found that there are many doctors and nurses from around the world who want to come and work in South Africa. We would like to use this event as an opportunity to bring those opportunities back to the attention of South Africans who may not know what is currently available back at home – unrivalled work experience, the humanitarian appeal of helping those who need one’s help the most, and a South African lifestyle to boot.
What is the one thing you can offer homecomers more effectively than others?
We have built unique national relationships and partnerships which allow us to map all available opportunities and best match the skills and needs of returning health workers with potential job opportunities. And as far as we are aware, we are the only South African organisation currently in such a position.
What practical advantages does your company offer in terms of making our readers’ lives easier?
Our experience shows that many South African health workers miss the type of work they used to do back at home. In addition, many expats are not aware of the improvements and changes to the health system in SA. AHP acts as a point to provide this information, facilitate placements and sort out any health profession council registrations which may have lapsed. As AHP is a donor-funded organisation, we offer all our services at no cost.
How do you see the financial landscape developing over the next 12 months?
With the introduction of OSD (occupation specific dispensation), doctors are seeing a large increase in their income. Nurses’ salaries were also increased after negotiations to a more representative salary. These have both helped to attract and retain health workers in the system.
The World Cup is on everyone’s minds. Are you looking forward to it as a company?
Yes! There is an opportunity for doctors and nurses to work in health facilities which need to upscale operations in order to cope with the influx of visitors.
